Mom and MD. CMA President-elect candidate. Family physician with focused practice in refugee health and addiction medicine. President of the Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians. Past President of Doctors Nova Scotia. Assistant Professor Family Medicine Dalhousie University.

I am passionate about health equity and creating a health care system where physicians and their patients can thrive.

Physician leadership has been a focus throughout my career, supported by extensive leadership training and experience. As President of Doctors Nova Scotia, I helped secure significant investments in health care and a new funding model for family physicians. My involvement with the CMA began early through the Ambassador Program and has included serving on the Nominating Committee, the CMA Foundation Board, and representing Doctors Nova Scotia at CMA annual general meetings.

I have developed strong communication and advocacy skills, conducting more than 120 media interviews as DNS President and regularly engaging with the NS health authority and government. My clinical work in refugee care requires communicating through interpreters and has further strengthened my ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

I bring experience in digital health, through leadership in Doctors Nova Scotia’s eHealth Committee, the YourHealthNS advisory group, as an OPOR physician lead, and as an early adopter of AI scribes. I have a solid understanding of the impacts of digital health transformation.

Improving health equity has been the foundation of my career from providing primary care in remote Indigenous communities, to providing refugee and addictions care to underserved populations in inner city Halifax. I am a compassionate advocate for my patients and am well informed in EDI(R)A principles.

My vision aligns with CMA’s Impact 2040 strategy: engaging physicians, embracing diverse perspectives, and strengthening the CMA as the trusted national voice for physicians across Canada.
